1. Purpose
Neponset University requires its trustees, officers, faculty, staff, and learners to observe high standards of business and personal ethics. As Neponset employees and representatives carry out their responsibilities, they must practice honesty and integrity in fulfilling their responsibilities and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
2. Reporting Responsibility
Each individual covered by this policy has an obligation to report in accordance with this policy any suspected violation of law, financial impropriety, or violation of Neponset policy (including but not limited to fraud, embezzlement, falsification of records, theft, conflicts of interest, and discrimination).
3. No Retaliation
No trustee, officer, faculty member, staff member, or learner who in good faith reports a violation shall suffer harassment, retaliation, or adverse employment or academic consequence. Anyone who retaliates against someone who has reported a violation in good faith is subject to discipline up to and including termination of employment or expulsion. This policy is intended to encourage and enable employees and others to raise serious concerns within Neponset prior to seeking resolution outside the institution.
4. Reporting Procedure
Reports may be made to:
A direct supervisor.
The President or Chief Financial Officer.
The Audit Committee chair of the Board of Trustees.
Reports may be made to hello@neponset.co; an anonymous channel will be provided when available.
Reports of suspected fraud or financial impropriety should be directed to the Audit Committee chair.
5. Acting in Good Faith
Anyone filing a report must be acting in good faith and have reasonable grounds for believing the information disclosed indicates a violation. Allegations made maliciously or with knowledge of falsity are themselves a serious violation of Neponset policy.
6. Confidentiality
Reports will be kept confidential to the extent possible, consistent with the need to conduct an adequate investigation.
7. Handling of Reports
The Audit Committee chair or designee notifies the reporter and acknowledges receipt of the report within five (5) business days. All reports are investigated and appropriate corrective action is taken if warranted.
