The Neponset faculty are working scholars and practitioners who teach because they want to — without salary, without rank politics, and without confusing their expertise with their authority. Full faculty appointments are reviewed by our faculty senate; volunteer status is governed by our policies on classification.
Faculty are appointed by the senate following an open application, peer review of teaching materials, and a conversation about the seminar each candidate proposes to lead.
Appointments are by term, not by tenure. There is no salary, no honoraria, and no quid pro quo of any kind. We do reimburse documented expenses where reasonable.
If you are a working scholar, retired professor, or experienced practitioner who would like to teach a seminar, we invite you to write to us.
In the meantime, the eleven faculty leading our inaugural seminars are introduced briefly on the academics page.
We are always looking for scholars and practitioners who would like to lead a seminar. Write to us with the seminar you have in mind, the texts you would assign, and a short note on what you would bring to the room.
