Terms of Use
Neponset University · neponset.co
Welcome to Neponset University. We're working to build a tuition-free, fully online university that makes higher education more accessible.
We believe in being open about what we're building, what exists today, and what remains to be done. These Terms of Use explain how you may use our website, what you can expect from us, and the limitations of our current offerings.
By accessing or using neponset.co, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.
1. Who We Are
Neponset University is an educational initiative in Massachusetts, operated under the legal name Neponset Open Learning, Inc., a Massachusetts nonprofit corporation.
Neponset University is not currently admitting learners or operating as an authorized degree-granting institution.
Our goal is to offer accessible, rigorous online education, supported by instructors who receive stipends for their teaching.
We are still building the institution, its academic programs, and its operating policies. Information on this website describes our current plans unless otherwise stated.
2. Our Authorization and Accreditation Status
Neponset University is not currently authorized by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education to award degrees.
We are not accredited by any accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
We intend to seek the necessary degree-granting authorization and institutional accreditation. Neither outcome is guaranteed, and we cannot promise when or whether either will be obtained.
At present:
- Neponset University does not award degrees.
- Courses completed through Neponset University, if and when offered, will not result in a degree under our current status.
- Other institutions may decline to recognize or accept coursework completed through Neponset University. Transfer credit is not guaranteed.
- Neponset University does not participate in federal Title IV student financial aid programs. Federal Pell Grants and federal student loans are not available for study through Neponset University.
Please consider these limitations carefully when evaluating our educational plans.
Our name reflects the institution we hope to build, not a claim that we have already obtained university-level authorization or accreditation.
3. Tuition, Fees, and Financial Assistance
Our educational model is designed around $0 tuition.
We anticipate charging course registration fees averaging approximately $1,600 per learner per year, with need-based fee waivers intended to help learners who cannot afford those costs.
These are planning estimates, not final published charges. Actual fees may vary depending on course registration and other factors. We have not established a guaranteed maximum annual fee.
We intend to publish clear information about charges, payment requirements, fee waivers, refunds, and other financial policies before accepting learner registrations or payments.
We do not currently participate in federal student financial aid programs, and we do not promise that such participation will become available.
4. Admissions and the Interest List
Neponset University is not yet accepting applications or admitting learners.
If you would like to hear about our progress, you may contact us at hello@neponset.co to express your interest.
Joining our interest list:
- Does not constitute an application for admission.
- Does not reserve a place in a future course or program.
- Does not establish student status or an educational relationship.
- Does not guarantee admission, financial assistance, or access to future offerings.
We plan to introduce a brief application process with no application fee when admissions open. Application procedures, evaluation criteria, academic offerings, and enrollment arrangements remain subject to development and change.
Expressing interest does not obligate you to apply or enroll.
5. Information on This Website
We work to make the information on our website accurate, understandable, and current. Because Neponset University has not yet begun classes, some details describe anticipated programs rather than established services.
Course descriptions, academic calendars, program structures, instructor arrangements, fees, admission procedures, and anticipated launch dates may change as the institution develops.
We may also postpone, revise, or discontinue planned offerings.
No statement on this website constitutes a binding offer of admission, a guarantee that a program will launch, or a commitment to provide a particular academic credential.
When formal academic policies become effective, we intend to publish them separately. Policies currently identified as "in preparation," including academic integrity, refunds, conflicts of interest, and Title IX-related procedures, should not be understood as adopted or operative policies.
6. Acceptable Website Use
